Our vineyards

La Colombarola is located on the hillsides just a stone's throw from Bologna, within the Gessi Bolognesi e Calanchi dell’Abbadessa Regional Park, surrounded by lush woodlands, vineyards and chalky outcrops. The entire area plays host to a plethora of wild animals, which can often be spotted even during the day.
It is within this very special microclimate that our products come to life: Colli Bolognesi wines, honey, seasonal fruit and vegetables, vegetable sauces and jams.

It is very much worth paying a visit to the Grotta del Farneto (Farneto Cave), which has recently been reopened to the public, and to the Donini Museum of Prehistory, which houses many of the remains found in the Cave. Guided tours and natural history excursions, on which you can sample the delights of the authentic local produce, are organised in partnership with the management of the Regional Park.

The Azienda Agricola La Colombarola was established in 2001 as a winery, and over the years has expanded to become a fully-fledged farm company. Wine has, however, remained the primary focus of the company's operations. The grapes are painstakingly harvested by hand (any unsuitable bunches are discarded) before being vinified in the winery. No yeasts are used for the fermentation process, which occurs entirely naturally – this allows the resultant wine to embody the unique flavours and aromas of the local terroir.
